Document Highlights

Newfoundland and Labrador’s tourism industry will post a strong recovery over the near term. This is partly due to the government’s “Come Home 2022” initiative.

Additional airline capacity will also help the province’s travel industry.

Domestic business travel is on the mend. However, it won’t return to pre-pandemic levels through the medium term because of the ongoing popularity of online meetings.

Because most visitors arrive by air, high gasoline prices may not hurt United States pleasure travel to Newfoundland and Labrador as much as for other provinces.

The competitive value of the loonie should provide an incentive for Americans to visit Newfoundland and Labrador.
