Many Canadian organizations supplement traditional rewards packages with additional perquisites that can add considerable value for employees. Perquisite offerings are becoming increasingly unique and visible, and many organizations are implementing these offerings to keep and attract talent.

The most common perks employers provide include professional membership reimbursement, mobile phones, and employee parking. The financial value of perquisites varies substantially based on the type of offering and the employee position level. Not all perks are offered to all employees. Perquisite allowances and car allowances are the highest-value perks on average, and these are offered almost exclusively to those in executive level positions.

Perquisites add psychological and monetary value to a total rewards package. They may also be a powerful attraction and retention tool, setting an organization apart when they are seeking out top talent.
