This report provides a framework that will help companies understand the different ways in which CSR can be managed effectively and integrated organization-wide. How do specific organizations manage their CSR activities internally? This report examines this question with a view to helping organizations and CSR professionals understand the benefits and challenges of the path they are choosing. It also provides practical suggestions on how to overcome the challenges associated with these approaches. Suggestions abound for developing a business case for CSR: integrating CSR as a core value: including it in decision-making processes: promoting the collaboration of CSR-related groups: and championing it as a core organizational value. The research presented in this report features in-depth interviews with representatives from six organizations: Chiquita Brands International, Export Development Corporation, Nike, Inc., Norsk Hydro, Suncor Energy Inc., and Vancouver City Savings Credit Union. It also reveals the findings of The Conference Board of Canada’s executive survey on Managing Corporate Social Responsibility.
