Domestic demand for overnight travel in Canada is expected increase at a modest 1.4 per cent pace this year. The slight downward revision from the 1.8 per cent growth forecast in our spring 2013 Travel Markets Outlook is partly due to more modest expectations for domestic pleasure travel.

- For each province and Yukon, the forecast estimates domestic tourism demand from the perspective of business and pleasure travellers, as well as international tourism demand from the perspective of U.S. and overseas travellers.
- Overall, growth in overnight domestic travel in Canada has been curtailed by soft income growth and high indebtedness this year, while growth travel from Europe and the U.S. has also been weak.
