Responses to this year’s edition of The Conference Board Annual Survey on Corporate Contributions indicate that charitable giving by companies and corporate foundations grew at a moderate rate in FY 2007 and outpaced corporate profits. Among the 197 companies that participated in the survey, total contributions of $10.97 billion were distributed to recipients in the United States and overseas in 2007, up from $10.21 billion in 2006. Other key findings include:
- Pharmaceutical companies remain the top donor industry in the United States.
- U.S. contributions totaled $8.62 billion in 2007, with a median contributions budget of $10.03 million.
- For the overall survey sample, total international contributions held steady from 2006 to 2007 at $2.35 billion. The majority of international contributions (66.20 percent) were non-cash.
- Health and human services organizations received the largest share of corporate support, both in the United States and internationally.
