Document Highlights

The unemployment rate will stay low, around 5.4 per cent, for the next five years.

Consumer spending will grow at a slower pace over the coming years, a result of the province’s aging population and higher borrowing costs.

Low unemployment will make it more difficult to hire workers, so businesses will have to be more capital intensive.

Exports will improve in the coming years, thanks to strong global demand.

The new trade agreement with the United States and Mexico (CUSMA) is encouraging, but risk remains in the trade forecast as tariffs are still in force on many of Quebec’s most important traded products.
