Traditional reporting processes and technology are limiting organizational flexibility and slowing decision-making. Proponents of workforce analytics in the public sector are seeing the value of combining near-real/real time, and workforce data elements to help connect operational and corporate planning information. These data can form the base for integrated information that supports a range of workforce decisions.

The purpose of this exploratory study, Connecting Operations to Corporate Workforce Planning in the Public Sector: Leveraging Today’s Technology ], is to examine whether public sector organizations are closing this gap. A sample of public sector organizations at the federal, provincial, and municipal level was interviewed to better understand the current state of practice.
