About

Deb Young is the Head of External Affairs at The Conference Board of Canada. In this role, Deb leads the advancement, government relations and communications functions for the organization to raise awareness and enhance the profile of research and subject matter experts in Canada’s key media, and with government decisionmakers and stakeholders.

Past Work Experience

Prior to the Board, Deb spent close to 20 years with IG Wealth Management (formerly Investors Group) in progressively senior roles, where as a A/Vice-President, she worked directly with the CEO and C-suite executives on pivotal and publicly lauded transformation strategies at Canada’s largest financial services company. In her time there, Deb created award-winning multi-channel strategies, including ‘Back on Track’ which received the Morningstar® award for best educational marketing campaign. She also introduced a suite of new media tools to provide a voice of confidence in crisis which contributed to Investors Group #1 client retention position during the market crash of 2008-2010.

More recently, Deb provided communications advice and guidance as the Director of Media Relations to the Head of Government and Key Ministries for the Province of Manitoba. A seasoned communications executive, Deb brings over 30 years of experience to her role, which has included running her own communications advisory firm, teaching numerous communications courses, and roles in advertising and broadcasting.
