  • Profitability Turnaround—Industry restructuring is bearing fruit, as the industry has returned to profitability. As sales recover further from their recession-induced lows, so too will profits. Improving Sales—U.S. vehicle sales are still very weak, but they are gradually recovering and are expected to reach their replacement rate in 2011 and expand further in subsequent years. Toyota Recalls—Toyota’s damaged brand has resulted in lost market share, part of which has gone to firms that do not manufacture in Canada.
