Document Highlights

This year’s report examines the scope and key success factors of collaboration among private sector manufacturing firms and between firms and universities and/or government research laboratories.

Our research also shows that firms that collaborate are more likely to draw a higher share of revenue from sales of new products. These firms are more likely to introduce breakthrough (world-first) innovations.

Despite the clear benefits that collaboration confers on participants, we find that collaboration is not widespread in Canada. There is definitely room for improvement, and Canadians should strive to encourage collaboration.
