The monthly Index of consumer confidence is constructed from responses to four attitudinal questions posed to a random sample of Canadian households.

After dropping 7 points in December, the Index of Consumer Confidence fell a further 0.6 points in January to start the year at 100.7 (2014 = 100), the lowest level in the past eight months.
