Territorial Outlook: Autumn 2014
The Conference Board of Canada, 62 pages,
December 16, 2014
The Territorial Outlook provides the economic and fiscal outlook for each of Canada’s three
Northern territories, including output by industry, labour markets, and demographics.
- The territories are still feeling the downturn in commodity prices, as project financing for new mines has been hard to secure.
- The business case for many of the mining projects in the North remains bright. That will lead to the development of new mines over the next five years.
- Total exploration and deposit appraisal spending in the territories has not grown since 2011.
- Public sector projects will help stimulate growth in the construction sector over the next few years in all three territories.
