Learning used to be something you did solely in a classroom, like only getting your news from a newspaper. These days, learning should be thought of as part formal, informal and social; it’s continuous, connected and collaborative.

The Conference Board of Canada presents Learning 2.0: Creating a Collaborative, Connected, Continuous Learning Culture. In this 60-minute session, Carrie Lavis, Senior Research Associate, presents the findings from The Conference Board of Canada’s research report The Learning and Development Outlook 2011.

Document Highlights

This session will cover the following:

  • Changes that are underway in learning and development in Canadian organizations.
  • Learning 2.0: from product to process, push to pull, and individual to social.
  • The five key elements for the adoption of new approaches within your learning culture.

You’ll also hear an in-depth case study on the implementation of Learning 2.0 at TELUS, presented by Dan Pontefract, Head of Learning & Collaboration. Come hear how TELUS and its 35,000+ team members have adopted and implemented a collaborative model of learning through various 2.0 tools, technologies and strategies.

As Head of Learning & Collaboration at TELUS, Dan is responsible for the overarching leadership, learning & collaboration strategy for the company. He has driven a philosophical and cultural shift in the way TELUS views and experiences learning called “Learning 2.0”; the shift to a social, informal and formal learning and collaboration model, bringing TELUS to the forefront of learning leadership. In parallel to these actions, Dan championed the introduction of the TELUS Leadership Philosophy (TLP), an open and collaborative-based leadership framework for all TELUS team members.
