Today, a driving force behind workspace reorganization is the desire to increase collaboration, with the expectation that this will lead to innovation. And as organizations reduce their office footprint, they are shrinking the space allocated to focused individual work. At the same time, focused work is shifting from the corporate office to the home office.
Reorganizing the Workplace: Transforming the Way Canadians Work, the second report in a series, looks at how and why Canadian organizations are reorganizing their workplace. Four recurring themes capture much of the impetus behind the current round of workplace reorganization: mobility, choice, flexibility, and levelling. This research series explores whether organizational culture, business needs, work and job design, and workplace design should be aligned, and if so, at what level will the success of the investment be measured.
