Consumer confidence rose in April to 87.7 (2002 = 100), an increase of 4 points. While the index recovered some of the losses recorded in March, and is higher than it was 12 months ago, it remains well below pre-recession levels.

The monthly Index of Consumer Confidence is constructed from responses to four attitudinal questions posed to a random sample of Canadian households.
