About
Krista Beardy is a Senior Research Associate with the Indigenous and Northern Communities team, bringing a strong background in environmental science, Indigenous advocacy, and research. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Dalhousie University, with additional studies in Environmental Science and Resource Management. She also holds a Master of Science degree from the University of New Brunswick where she continued to conduct research in the field of anthropogenic microparticle pollution.
Past Work Experience
Krista’s career spans a wide range of research and leadership roles in collaboration with Atlantic Canadian research entities, First Nations Communities, and both the federal and provincial governments on marine and freshwater pollution projects. She has also served as a Project Lead in Ghost Gear removal initiatives in an effort to reduce marine plastic pollution and promote sustainable fishing practices. A passionate advocate for Two-Eyed Seeing, Krista actively works towards the unification of Indigenous knowledge with Western scientific methodologies.
