Dr. Amy Porath is the Director of Research at the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction (CCSA). In this role she ensures that CCSA advances knowledge in the substance use field to inform policies and practice and respond to gaps in knowledge. For the past 17 years, her research has focused on cannabis and drug-impaired driving. As an internationally recognized subject-matter expert, her expertise is sought out by the Government of Canada, parliamentary committees, the Senate of Canada and the World Health Organization. With a Ph.D. in psychology from Carleton University, Dr. Porath is a member of the College of Problems on Drug Dependence and the International Council on Alcohol, Drugs and Traffic Safety, and is co-chair of CCSA’s Expert Advisory Group on Cannabis. She was recently named as one of Canada’s Top 100 Health Influencers by OptiMYz magazine for her research and public education efforts focused on cannabis.
