Zafer’s current research focuses on transitions from high-risk, low-mobility occupations to high-growth occupations. His previous work includes analyzing the impact of automation technologies on Canada’s local economies.

Past Work Experience

Prior to CBoC, Dr. Sonmez has worked as a consultant on regional industry analyses and economic impact studies in the United States, conducting a series of economic impact analyses for NASA. As an academic researcher, he studied the role of spatial proximity in knowledge diffusion in high-tech industrial sectors.

He currently serves as a referee for two academic journals: Economics of Innovation and New Technology, Technology Analysis and Strategic Management.
