This briefing is the first in a series on how the transition to a clean energy growth economy with lower GHG emissions will be financed. The series of briefings is intended to provide analysis and focus on the outcome—i.e., emissions reduction. Through this series of briefings and other research, The Conference Board of Canada is focused on providing evidence to inform the transition pathway to a clean energy growth economy. This first briefing defines what a clean growth economy is, and its relationship to finance. It then examines three sources of clean growth and finance: Equity Financing, Debt Financing, and Public Sector Financing. The briefing concludes on a positive note—that is, the future of clean growth finance is bright.
