In Domestic Travel Market Gaining Momentum we look at the latest Canadian Travel Intentions Survey results. The findings suggest that summer-vacation intentions will continue to rise, especially for Canadian destinations. In fact, travel intentions to all destinations are up over last year. Respondents said it’s because they have more time and money to travel this summer. The article also examines which methods are proving to be the most effective in raising awareness of potential holiday destinations among travellers.

Tackling the Tourism Labour Shortage examines the growing gap between labour supply and demand. Falling fertility rates and inadequate levels of immigration are two of the main reasons why there are fewer people available to replace Canada’s aging workforce. Tourism is particularly vulnerable, since this sector traditionally depends on a steady supply of young people. The article looks at what needs to happen to offset the economic and social repercussions.
