In November 2023, The Krembil Centre for Health Management and Leadership, in collaboration with The Conference Board of Canada, hosted a virtual roundtable titled Applied VBHC in Action. The roundtable bought together five value-based healthcare (VBHC) leaders from Canadian and international organizations to share their experience and observations leading VBHC efforts. In their leadership roles, these experts are championing VBHC approaches across healthcare, and clinical, academic, and patient communities.

The VBHC leaders identified five key challenges and enabling factors affecting the uptake, implementation, and integration of VBHC in Canada. They also provided recommendations for achieving transformative changes that prioritize outcomes important to patients and clinicians, as well as for funding accountability of provincial/territorial and federal governance bodies.
