Stewardship Review is a new Conference Board publication that examines key issues in governance and features insightful articles from leading thinkers and experienced directors from across Canada. For this inaugural issue, we challenged two authors to consider how the role of the board and its directors are changing. The first article was written by Mac Van Wielingen. He eloquently argues that corporate governance needs to expand in the direction of performance and then outlines three forms of governance that will reshape the engagement of boards in organizations and drive effective performance and results. The second article was written by Richard Leblanc. In his article, he outlines 10 major areas of pressure facing boards today and outlines several steps for how boards can respond to each pressure area.
