Document Highlights

Real GDP gains will slow from 2.4 per cent in 2019 to 1.3 per cent in 2020 as growth in consumer spending eases and residential investment declines.

Investment in machinery and equipment and in intellectual property will ramp up over the medium term as labour markets tighten further.

The unemployment rate is expected to fall to 5.1 per cent in 2019, down from 5.4 per cent last year.

Although Quebec is in good fiscal shape, maintaining a balanced budget will be challenging in an environment of slower economic growth and rising health care demands.
