Document Highlights

Growth of the St. John’s economy is expected to be above the 2 per cent mark each year over the forecast period.

Saint John, with a healthy housing market, is forecast to post GDP growth of 4.3 per cent this year.

Expected recovery in the export market will fuel GDP growth of 3.1 per cent in Chicoutimi–Jonquiére next year.

A modest rebound in manufacturing will help to offset a slowdown in Oshawa’s service sector.

Hamilton’s economy is recovering and should post robust growth of 4.7 per cent in 2003.

Kitchener is expected to bounce back from its slowdown with a 5.1 per cent advance in GDP next year.

Growth of 4 per cent in Windsor’s economy this year will be followed by a further acceleration in 2003.
