Confidence Improves Amid Easing Uncertainty

Building on last month’s gain, the Index of Consumer Confidence increased to 52.9 per cent in May, signaling perceived relief and a possible stabilization among consumers amid reduced economic and geopolitical uncertainties. Have the abolition of the carbon tax and the promise of middle-class tax relief played a role in stabilizing attitudes? Are these sentiments uniform among all provinces? How do the dynamics vary from region to region? What sectors are most at risk in view of the ongoing geopolitical uncertainties?
