Index of Business Confidence: Summer 2003

This quarterly survey poses ten qualitative questions regarding the business climate and investment intentions to senior officers of approximately 2,000 Canadian business organizations. Responses to three select questions are used to construct the Index.

The Index of Business Confidence fell by more than 20 points in the second quarter of 2003 – the biggest decline since the September terrorist attacks almost two years ago – to 109.9, the lowest level since the third quarter of 2001.
