Index of Business Confidence: Summer 2002

This quarterly survey poses ten qualitative questions regarding the business climate and investment intentions to senior officers of approximately 150 large Canadian businesses. Responses to three select questions are used to construct the Index.

Canadian business confidence has risen for the third consecutive quarter, to 145.2 index points. Better-than-expected economic indicators provide a solid foundation for economic expansion, and the most recent survey shows that firms expect their financial standing and profits to rise.
