The Conference Board of Canada’s Help-Wanted Index is an indicator of the number of new jobs advertised online. Our empirical analysis has shown that variations in the number of jobs posted online are generally followed by similar variations in employment in the ensuing months. Document Highlights

The Help-Wanted Index gained 1.1 percentage points in May, continuing the upward trend it began late last year. However, the overall trend has weakened recently, partly due to a sizable decline in the index in March.
