Compensation Planning Outlook is an annual survey on compensation and human resources practices in Canada conducted by The Conference Board of Canada. In June 2016, a questionnaire was sent to 2,245 predominantly large and medium-sized Canadian organizations. Seventy-five organizations from Alberta participated in the survey. According to the survey results, the average pay increase for non-unionized employees in Alberta is forecast to be 1.4 per cent in 2017, which is 0.9 percentage points below the expected rate of inflation.

Salary increases in 2017 are, once again, predicted to be significantly below the national average of 2.2 per cent. The projected average salary increase for non-unionized employees is 1.4 per cent.
