Quebec’s economy has experienced setbacks, in large part due to slowdowns in the U.S. economy and stalled exports recovery. Nevertheless, the 2016 projected average salary increase for non-unionized employees is 2.6 per cent – more than the forecast Quebec inflation rate of 1.7 per cent.

The Compensation Planning Outlook is an annual survey on compensation and human resources practices in Canada conducted by The Conference Board of Canada. In August, 38 predominantly large and medium-sized organizations from Quebec participated in the survey. In December 2015, the Mid-Year Pulse Check survey was sent to Compensation Planning Outlook participants to gather updated salary projection data. Twenty-one organizations from Quebec responded. The average pay increase for non-unionized employees in Quebec is forecast to be 2.6 per cent in 2016 – 0.9 percentage points above the expected rate of inflation.
