Despite a slow start to 2015, Ontario’s economy has begun to show signs of moderate growth. The 2016 projected salary increase for non-unionised employees is 2.5 per cent, slightly more than the expected inflation rate of 1.6 per cent.

The Compensation Planning Outlook is an annual survey on compensation and human resources practices in Canada conducted by The Conference Board of Canada. In August, 171 predominantly large and medium-sized organizations from Ontario participated in the survey. In December 2015, the Mid-Year Pulse Check survey was sent to Compensation Planning Outlook participants to gather updated salary projection data. One hundred and five organizations from Ontario responded. The average pay increase for non-unionized employees in Ontario is forecast to be 2.5 per cent in 2016 – 0.9 percentage points above the expected rate of inflation.
