Document Highlight
The power of connectedness is just starting to be tapped. Our capacity to connect people is beginning to provide value and bring tangible benefits to our competitiveness and our quality of life. It is enhancing our ability to be more innovative and productive. This is the fourth annual Connectedness Index study that benchmarks Canada’s progress in connectedness against nine other Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) economies, also called the “e-10.” In it, we summarize quantitative indicators, and identify gaps and opportunities for Canada to improve its connectedness and ultimately, its economic and social performance. Canada outperforms the majority of comparator countries in this year’s Index, finishing in a tie with Sweden for second place, and trailing the United States for the fourth consecutive year. The Index looks at the availability of information and communications technologies (ICTs), their price, reach and use.
