  • Natural Gas Prices—Although prices have dropped from the abnormal highs of early 2006, they are expected to remain high by historical standards throughout the forecast horizon.
  • Declining Productivity—With the cheapest and most easily accessible wells already depleted, energy companies are being pushed to extract natural gas from the more marginal-quality wells. That is leading to higher costs and lower production levels.
  • Liquefied Natural Gas—Investments have been announced for liquefied natural gas terminals that will increase natural gas supply in North America. This will serve to keep prices depressed in the medium term.
