Document Highlights
The Boeing Winnipeg plant employs approximately 1,000 highly skilled people, including 24 deaf and hard-of-hearing employees. After an initial assessment of workers in 1995 revealed the need for additional coaching in reading workplace documents and in mathematics, the company responded by developing and delivering curricula in these two subjects. Recognizing the diverse needs of their employee-learners, Boeing Winnipeg also developed adaptations of this curricula to address the unique needs of its deaf learners. Positive results have allowed Boeing Winnipeg to remain competitive with other Boeing operations worldwide in the manufacture of composite parts.
