Call for Economic Consultants

The Conference Board of Canada is Canada’s largest independent applied research organization. We have one of the country’s largest private economic analysis and forecasting team and are widely recognized for expert economic forecasting, modeling, and leading analysis. Simply put, we deliver insights that help leaders cut through the noise and make informed decisions.

In response to the demand for our work in this area, we are looking for experienced economics who can undertake custom projects on a variety of topics on as and when needed basis.

We are a virtual organization and as a remote worker you must be comfortable and able to work 100 per cent of the time from a home office. To be successful as a remote worker you need to have a self-starter attitude, possess strong organizational and time management skills and be a proactive communicator. Having a home office environment that provides for a productive, professional, and safe work environment during regular working/business hours is a requirement of this role.

About the Role

Requirements as a Consultant:

  • Experience as an independent consultant or contract/project-based work
  • Work from home requirement
  • Have your own full computer/IT setup and necessary software to conduct data/driven technical work.

About You

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Comfortable performing economic analysis using a variety of approaches including time-series analysis, economic impact analysis and cost-benefit analysis
  • Conduct complex, accurate analysis and produce high quality work adhering to prescribed methodology
  • Familiarity with Statistics Canada data and can comfortably analyze microdata files
  • Effectively synthesize large amounts of information and communicate key findings clearly and concisely
  • Superb writing skills
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is a requirement
  • Can complete tasks independently
  • Strong project management skills
  • Proficiency in an MS Office environment, including advanced spreadsheet skills using Excel
  • Experience with statistical applications (Eviews, R, Stata, etc.) is a strong asset.
