Tim Petersen

Acting President and CEO, WorkSafeNB

Tim Petersen was appointed as acting president and chief executive officer of WorkSafeNB on October 25, 2021. He also served in this role from October 2016 to March 2018.

Tim has more than 25 years’ experience with WorkSafeNB in various positions. Most recently Tim was vice-president of Prevention, in which he oversaw the Prevention division’s education, compliance, regulatory review, and field staff. He assumed this role in August 2018. Tim has also served as vice-president of Corporate Services and chief financial officer, responsible for WorkSafeNB’s financial services, treasury, security services, assessment services, policy and planning, enterprise risk management (ERM), information technology, fiscal and economic planning, and program evaluation.

His other roles at WorkSafeNB include controller, from 2005 until 2014, and manager of internal audit, from 1999-2004.

A graduate of University of New Brunswick with a bachelor of business administration, Tim is a chartered professional accountant, a certified internal auditor and certified information systems auditor.

Before joining WorkSafeNB, in 1995, he spent several years with KPMG.
