Senior Policy & Program Advisor in Violence Prevention at the Women’s Equality Branch of Executive Council Office with the Province of New Brunswick

Silke Brabander is a Senior Policy & Program Advisor in Violence Prevention at the Women’s Equality Branch of Executive Council Office with the Province of New Brunswick. Fluent in French, English and Spanish, Silke brings over 15 years of experience in policy analysis, program management, community engagement and training from working in public, private and non-profit sectors.

With expertise in gender-based violence, Silke has provided training to thousands of service providers working in the field of domestic violence. Over the last four years, Silke has served as a member and chairperson of the Domestic & Intimate Partner Violence in the Workplace Committee, an inter-agency committee representing academia, government, employers and unions in the province of New Brunswick. She has provided training to employers (from large HR departments to small businesses) on how to address domestic violence in the workplace – and why – encouraging the use of “It’s Your Business: A Domestic Violence Workplace Toolkit.

Originally from Montreal, Silke holds a B.A. and an M.A. in Political Science with a focus on gender and international relations, both from the University of New Brunswick. She also has a Diploma in Adult Teaching.
