Mark Bigland-Pritchard

Migration & Resettlement Coordinator, Mennonite Central Committee Saskatchewan

Mark Bigland-Pritchard (MA Cambridge; MSc Cranfield; PhD Sheffield) immigrated to Canada from Britain in 2005. With a background in applied physics and sustainable energy options that took in both consultancy and university teaching, he made a career shift in 2018 by taking on the post of Migration and Resettlement Coordinator with Mennonite Central Committee Saskatchewan. In this role, he manages a private sponsorship programme and works to raise awareness, in the church and beyond, of the root causes of forced displacement. Mark is a member of the Canadian Council for Refugees’ overseas protection and sponsorship steering committee. He is active in the campaign for climate justice, with an international perspective on the climate emergency: he has therefore been particularly pleased to be able to equip sponsorship groups to bring Afghan refugees who have worked with Fridays for Future, and others advocating for womens’ rights and democracy. He sees solidarity and practical support for refugees as a necessary outworking of his Christian faith; he worships regularly as part of a small house church in Saskatoon. Mark is married to Jan, with an adult daughter and adult stepson both living independently.
