According to the Compensation Planning Outlook 2018 survey, the average pay increase for non-unionized employees in Ontario is projected to be 2.5 per cent in 2018—half a point higher than that for unionized employees.

Document Highlights

Ontario’s private sector organizations anticipate salary increases of 2.5 per cent in 2017, while the public sector’s projected increase is 2.3 per cent. Non-unionized workers can look forward to a 2.5 per cent hike, compared with a 2.0 per cent gain for unionized employees.

In 2017, 83 per cent of Ontario workers received a pay increase, while the voluntary turnover rate was 6.8 per cent.

In 2018, Ontario organizations plan to spend 10.6 per cent as a percentage of base pay on short-term incentive pay, compared with 10.7 per cent at the national level.
