This research was excellent for my use in a university paper about the link between food literacy and food security in Canada. Thank you! |

This is a very good report and highlights critical aspects of food security in Canada. I would like to see more analysis by province although there is some, urban/rural, Aboriginal-specific, and for the Conference Board to consider an annual update to this document that discusses how these strategies are being adopted/implemented. Good bibliography, though, with plenty of solid documents/research to continue reading. This document is a great starting place for understanding the issues and considering strategies to move toward food security for all. |

Comprehensive, important document. Anyone doing advocacy or research on access to healthy food needs to use this document and make its findings more readily known by the public, instead of the neo-Liberal approach that many governments take. |

Excellent report. Only suggestion is to update and evaluate some of the current measures to combat food insecurity/food access in geographically challenged areas where issue is prevalent, with suggestions for improvement |

This is a very indepth, clear picture of food security in Canada today. As a student in Food Security at Ryerson and future professional in public health prevention, programs and/or policy, I will definitely be thoroughly reading through and keeping this document for future reference. Actually, I've already used it in a discussion paper. Thank you! Excellent work! |

This report covers most of the key areas of today’s food security challenges – it covers school food nutrition programs, other areas of food insecurity... I am uncertain if the topic of improving nutritional needs for those with sufficient income falls under this topic or a separate report – it is certainly a risk and adds to health costs... From a global or UN requirement, I would want to see us meet our requirements for food security, including those outlining the marketing restrictions by food corporations to specific age groups. As this report is for a multi-year food strategy, I believe that it is important to also look at least a bit into the future. Globally, multiple reports indicate a growing concern about food security with unsustainable environmental issues, growing populations, and changing diets. It appears that there is a high risk of more food security challenges for many more Canadians in future years. These risks and challenges will need to be addressed and do not appear to be covered in the recommended long and short-term strategies summarized in this report. |
