After reaching historic highs in Q3, consumer confidence remained essentially flat in Q4 to 92.

Confidence dropped the most sharply in Central and Eastern European economies as inflation increases, and fears of a conflict between Ukraine and Russia mount. Whether confidence reserves course in 2022 depends on the health and economic effects of the Omicron wave, and whether or not price increases peaked in Q4 2021. While the spread of Omicron has not affected The Conference Board’s economic outlook for Europe for 2022, it adds downside risks.
