The Labour Market Information Resource 2.0 for the Northwest Territories is made up of six modules. Each looks at specific factors—such as economic growth and education—that will determine the health and shape of the N.W.T. labour market between 2021 and 2040.

Document Highlights

  • The Conference Board of Canada’s Territorial Forecasting Model (TFM) was used to produce three sets of economic forecasts for the Northwest Territories up to the year 2040.
  • The TFM produces forecasts for real GDP by industry, as well as employment by industry. It also forms the basis of our occupational demand scenarios presented in Module 6.
  • The basic assumptions and results of the territorial forecasting model are explained in this module, as well as the different sets of assumptions used to produce our base case and alternative low and high forecasts.
