Consumer confidence increased from 109 in 2021 Q2 to 115 in 2021 Q3 in Europe, a new all-time high. In the Euro Area confidence increased from 94 in Q2 to 97 in Q3. The main contribution to the improvement was a better outlook for jobs.

The labor market has fully recovered from the pandemic shock and job growth is expected to continue into the first half of 2022. This should help boost consumer confidence in the coming quarters barring a resurgence of COVID-19. A better outlook for the labor market combined with the mild impact of the Delta variant, bodes well for household expenditure in the short-term.
