The monthly Index of consumer confidence is constructed from responses to four attitudinal questions posed to a random sample of Canadian households.
Document Highlights
As the number of COVID-19 cases—driven mainly by the delta variant—picked up again across the country, many Canadians started to worry about the future, especially on the economic impact of potential restrictions to curb the fourth wave. Positive sentiments deteriorated on all four survey questions, resulting in a drop in the overall index for the
first time since April.
