Most Canadian employees are disengaged, despite growing awareness of the value of a highly engaged workforce. This research uses The Conference Board of Canada’s employee engagement model to explore engagement at the middle manager level.

Document Highlights

Despite growing awareness of the value of a highly engaged workforce, employee engagement scores for most organizations across Canada remain low. In fact, across Canada, approximately seven out of 10 employees are disengaged.

The most influential driver of employee engagement is confidence in senior organizational leadership. Strong leaders not only have the ability to create a compelling vision for their organizations, but can also effectively communicate that vision and establish trust with their employees. This is where middle managers come into play—their alignment with senior leaders is essential to successfully reach this step.

This research uses The Conference Board of Canada’s employee engagement model to explore engagement at the middle manager level (driven by engaged senior leadership) and the implications of middle managers being effectively aligned with senior leaders.
