The monthly Metropolitan housing starts publication provides the recent trends in housing starts for 29 metropolitan areas and expectations for starts over both the short and long term.
Document Highlights
- There are seven CMAs with both positive short- and long-term expectations, two more than last month.
- Cities in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area have negative expectations for the short term, but positive expectations for the long term.
- The CMAs with the biggest year-over-year declines in housing starts in June were Kingston, Hamilton, Victoria, Trois-Rivières, and Sherbrooke.
- Saint John had the biggest year-over-year increase in housing starts last month.
