This report is designed to provide an understanding of how public and private sector employers are approaching the implementation of their absence and disability management programs and practices. It also provides insight into the health concerns that employers anticipate will most affect future programming, as well as details about the design of two programs integral to absence and disability management: stay-at-work programs and return-to-work programs. Results presented in this report are based on the analysis of quantitative data obtained through an online survey administered to Canadian employers in the public and private sectors. Data were collected between January and March 2016. In total, 205 employers completed the survey. Survey data are supplemented with literature in the field.
