The monthly Metropolitan housing starts publication provides the recent trends in housing starts for 29 metropolitan areas and expectations for starts over both the short and long term.
Document Highlights
- There are 11 census metropolitan areas (CMAs) with both positive short- and long-term expectations, five more than last month.
- Vancouver and Victoria remain in the Down-Down quadrant with negative expectations for the short and long run.
- The CMAs with the biggest year-over-year declines in housing starts in August were Victoria, Oshawa, Regina, Thunder Bay, and Winnipeg.
- Kingston had the biggest year-over-year increase in housing starts last month.
