Lurraine Villacorta came to Canada in 2018 to take up a graduate certificate program on International Business Management (IBM) at Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology. She graduated with honours and at the top of her IBM class in June 2019. She is currently completing her another graduate certificate program on Regulatory Affairs.

Lurraine holds a Master of Science degree in Agriculture and Food Engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok, Thailand. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries Business Management from the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City. A lifelong learner, Lurraine has also taken up various advanced studies in International Development-Gender and Development, here in Canada and on Environmental Toxicology in Spain.

She comes to Canada with extensive work experience in international organizations, including the Canadian International Development Agency and the United Nations. Before coming to Canada, she completed an assignment to the International Labour Organization Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific as a Technical Specialist on Environment and Decent Work and as ILO Global Green Jobs Program. Lurraine worked to promote the just transition to green economies in over a dozen countries, including China, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.
