The monthly Index of Consumer Confidence is constructed from responses to four attitudinal questions posed to a random sample of Canadian households.

Document Highlights

The Index of Consumer Confidence in August continued its recent downward trend, dropping 6.6 points to 74.7 (2002 = 100). Similar to last month, negativity toward future job creation and making a major purchase was the primary cause of the waning consumer confidence.
